7-9 am, the fishermen put out to sea and return between 12 and 2pm. As they repair their pots and boats, they will gladly discuss the weather, and show or sell the catch of the day. In season, fish and lobster are brought in daily - during these hours the scene is lively and ebullient. As the Financial Times commented: "Petit Bacaye is ten miles by road, but miles more by spirit".

Across the way, set among the palms, is Petit Bacaye Cottage Hotel which is private, but at the small thatched bar breakfast and dinner may be enjoyed by arrangement, or just a drink with the fisherman or passing villagers.
